![]() Innovative new gameplayĪs Freedom Planet 2 nears completion, it’s clear that it has grown into itself even more. While it maintains the look and feel of classic pixel art, the detailing in it is good and the crystal-clear characters are very well done. Pixel art is often a fairly simple affair, but once again Freedom Planet 2 takes this to a whole new level. ![]() Many of the original voice actors from the first game are reprising their roles, so if you loved how they sounded in the first game, look forward to their work a second time around. The developers chose beautiful, expressive voice acting for the characters, and the game at least appears to be fully voiced. One of the first things players will notice when they watch the generous nearly 3-minute trailer showcasing the game is the incredible voice acting put into work for the game. Freedom Planet characters have managed to expand past their own games and may continue to do so in the future.įreedom Planet 2 will release on September 13 for PC and consoles.Although it has its roots in a fangame, the work put into the series has made it an original piece worthy of so much fan excitement. Thanks to the initial game's success, Freedom Planet characters have shown up in other indie games as crossovers lead character Sash Lilac has appeared in several games including A Hat in Time, Runbow, and Indie Pogo. The Unity engine allowing for new features like dynamic zoom give the game even more of its own style, cementing Freedom Planet 2 as a modernized, improved take on the original's concepts. The sequel takes on its own style and uses higher-resolution sprites to create more detailed characters and separate itself from the heavily Genesis-inspired style of its predecessor. The characters in the original game, while differentiated, are still somewhat Sonic-like given its origins as a fangame. ![]() To differentiate itself from its inspirations, Freedom Planet 2 brings changes to character designs. ![]()
